Theme year for children and young people
We have chosen to focus on children and young people as the theme years for regional cultural development in 2025 and 2026. During the theme years, we will particularly highlight and promote cultural activities and initiatives aimed at children and young people.
What are the theme years?
The Norrbotten Region has been working with theme years since 2016 with the aim of highlighting specific aspects of cultural diversity. Activities and events have been carried out by municipalities, cultural institutions, professional cultural creators and civil society. Previous theme years that have been carried out have been diversity, cultural heritage, democracy and digitalisation.
The theme year Children and Youth will be implemented over two years, 2025 and 2026.
The Norrbotten Region works with the theme years, among other things, by allocating personnel resources, assigning tasks to regional cultural activities and organizations with operating grants to work with the theme year, and prioritizing projects linked to the theme when distributing project funds.
Internally, we have developed a communication plan and several messages about culture for children and young people in Norrbotten. The Culture Unit's employees have been invited to participate in a network with the aim of collaborating around the theme year.
