Community planning
Community planning is a fundamental part of creating an attractive county for those who live and work in Norrbotten. Good housing, functioning communications and an expanded broadband network are some examples of the infrastructure that is crucial for the county's development.
The Norrbotten Region is working to create conditions for good community planning – in a time of great change.
Developments in recent years have put urban planning in the county's municipalities under heavy pressure. A long series of large-scale industrial and mining developments are to be planned.
Industrial transformation does not just mean planning industrial land. Municipalities must plan for everything required for a sustainable and functioning society. But what needs to be planned does not always stay within the borders of one and the same municipality. Roads and power lines, wind farms and outdoor recreation areas often cross borders. This requires a regional geographical perspective.
Our contribution is to coordinate municipalities and the region, create overviews and build joint capabilities. Co-planning is a way of steering towards a common direction.

The goal is to make regional development and community planning more coherent in northern Sweden – across county borders and between different areas of activity.
Electricity supply is of central importance for sustainable growth, but what does the electricity grid capacity look like in the county's municipalities?
Growing business and large investments create confidence in the future. But to seize the opportunities, we need more people to live and develop here.
