The ick of the Bible?

13 November 2025.

Between 17-21 November, young people between the ages of 13 and 19 can express their thoughts, feelings and opinions about the library, both positive and negative, by writing either a love letter or a “break up letter” to their library. The activity is part of the campaign The Word is Free and is being organised in connection with the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 20 November.

The letters are written on special stationery with a unique design for love letters and break-up letters, respectively. The libraries plan to make an exhibition of the letters to show the voices and reflections of young people to the public. By participating and submitting their letter, young people also have the opportunity to win great prizes.

"When we listen to young people's ideas and experiences, the activities develop and become more relevant. Their voices are invaluable in our work," explains Sara Nilsson Westerdahl, youth librarian in Boden.

In Norrbotten there are 14 municipalities and 39 library rooms, including the book buses, and you will be able to write letters at all locations. Each library can then supplement with its own features depending on local resources.
