National minorities and the indigenous Sami people

We support the Libraries in Norrbotten's work with the Swedish national minority languages ​​and the indigenous language Sami. Together, we want to increase access to literature, language and stories in Sami, Meänkieli, Finnish, Romani Chib and Yiddish.

How we work

We work in various ways to promote languages, mainly for the younger Norrbotten people. This can involve language bags and coordinating language networks between those who meet the youngest children. We are also involved in both shorter and longer projects. Often together with Jämtland Härjedalen, Västerbotten and Västernorrland. We also write articles and do courses for Digiteket.

Polarbibblo – children's voices in multiple languages

We run Polarbibblo, a safe website where children can write, play word games, share their stories and much more. It is an important resource for children's creativity and language development. Polarbibblo is available in Swedish and our national minority languages.
