Norrbotten Regional Library

We work to develop the public libraries in the county and strengthen the role of libraries in society. Our mission is to work with the public libraries to promote reading and education for everyone in Norrbotten. Our second mission is to run Polarbibblo which is a web resource for all of Sweden and Sápmi.

According to the Library Act, libraries shall work for the development of a democratic society by contributing to the free formation of opinions and imparting knowledge. Libraries shall be open and accessible to all. Special attention shall be given to national minorities and the indigenous Sami people, people with a mother tongue other than Swedish and people with disabilities. Public libraries shall also give priority to children and young people.

The Regional Library therefore offers support, inspiration and cooperation to develop the activities of public libraries throughout Norrbotten. Our work also involves collaboration with other activities at regional and national level.
