“Our decisions must be based on facts”
A lack of skills is a fact in the municipality of Arvidsjaur. Through the collaboration in Kompetenserna Norrbotten, the municipality will map out what skills are missing and thereby be able to make the right interventions that meet the needs.

Skills supply is a major challenge in Arvidsjaur. Employers lack skills, the municipality has a limited population base and large retirements are expected.
– We need to develop skills and train the people who are here and increase immigration. The same applies to the entire county, and the situation is urgent. The decisions we make about training and recruitment efforts must be based on facts, says Anne Enoksson, business strategist at Arvidsjaur Municipality.
A survey sent out to entrepreneurs and employers in Norrbotten this autumn will collect facts about the needs in skills development, recruitment and training. The survey responses will be used to prioritize the right measures.
– It will be an important basis that we can use in dialogue with decision-makers. By identifying needs, we can find common denominators, plan the right training and work to attract expertise from parts of the country with higher unemployment, says Anne.
The more answers, the better the basis
The survey will provide a coherent picture of the region's cross-industry skills needs. Anne hopes for many responses to make the data as good as possible:
– We will put energy and resources into taking this further. Those who do not respond do not make their needs visible, and then it is difficult to get investments.
