Future manager wants to strengthen Överkalix by investigating skills needs

Överkalix municipality is participating in Kompetensarena Norrbotten and is one of several municipalities in the county that wants to map the future skills needs. A call will soon be sent out to employers in the municipality to respond to a survey where the answers will be important in planning future efforts.

– Our goal is to create a society where more people want to live, work and live. Therefore, it is important that we know what needs there are to make this possible, says Jessica Wennberg, future manager at Överkalix's future unit.

Överkalix Municipality has previously conducted a survey of recruitment and training needs, which then led to targeted initiatives that concretely facilitated companies' skills supply.

A new survey will be conducted in September and the municipality now wants help from all employers to get as clear a picture as possible of the needs going forward.

“When we did the survey last time, participation was very high. We hope for just as much commitment now and that our employers will take the opportunity to describe their future skills needs,” says Jessica.

A wide range of professions is needed

Överkalix has a broad business sector. In the hospitality industry, the need for, for example, chefs, salespeople and people with marketing skills is growing. The construction and civil engineering industry also has a large need for personnel. The transport sector is another industry that is looking for several different types of skills.

– There is a wide range of professions in demand. Therefore, it is important that we receive many responses that reflect reality, says Jessica Wennberg.
