Competence needs – the 8 steps

This overview shows our current situation – and the steps we need to take to build knowledge, strengthen matching and secure future competence. We have divided it into eight areas. Together they provide a holistic picture to start from – to understand, collaborate and act.

  1. The need for skills is increasing
The demand for labor is growing throughout the region.
  2. We need more people and matched skills
There are too few of us from Norrbotten to meet the needs. There is a lack of in-demand skills.
  3. Mapping, facts and forecasts as a basis
We map employers' actual needs and analyze forecasts. A reliable knowledge base reduces the risk of incorrect decisions and misprioritization.
  4. Data-driven and accessible
The data should be open, shareable and usable – for smart planning, joint initiatives and future projects.
  5. Matching needs
Individuals' skills need to match the needs of the business and public sectors to a greater extent.
  6. Balance between supply and demand
The employer's needs are in focus and the results guide efforts within population supply and educational planning.
  7. Shared responsibility – collaboration
No actor can solve this alone, there needs to be shared responsibility and power through collaboration.
  8. Priority actions
Actors working for the county's skills supply can use the results to prioritize support and initiatives that help the county's employers.
