The Norrbotten Region and the Lapland Local Government Association participated in the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth's event on regional skills supply, where they shared experiences from the data-driven work in Norrbotten to meet the skills challenge.

Region Norrbotten and the Association of Local Authorities of Lapland spoke about the skills mapping in Norrbotten that is underway at the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth's event "Regional skills supply - needs assessments". Experiences were highlighted from the data-driven work of the mapping, which aims to strengthen decision-making and create better conditions for long-term skills supply at the local and regional level.

– Working with skills mapping together with collaboration partners allows us to prioritize the right initiatives and drive development using the data we jointly own, says Vera Westerlund, skills strategist at Region Norrbotten.

The lecture about the work in Norrbotten was given by Vera Westerlund, skills strategist, and Joe Lindehag, statistician at Region Norrbotten, as well as Magdalena Ahnqvist Olsson, training manager at the Lapland Association of Local Authorities.

The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth has subsequently published an article about the initiative in Norrbotten, where the joint work between municipalities, the region and business is described. The lecture is also available to read at the link below.

The work in Norrbotten shows how joint analyses and data-driven working methods can contribute to more accurate efforts for skills provision – from the regional level all the way to local action.
