Networks and collaborations
The Norrbotten Region collaborates with the Swedish Transport Administration, other authorities, municipalities, organizations and the business community in the long-term national and regional planning of roads, railways, aviation and shipping.
Region Norrbotten works for a strengthened and modern infrastructure, both within and outside the county. Proximity to national and international markets is necessary for the county's development and growth. Where active exchange with the outside world is facilitated by constantly improved communications.
Norrbotten is one of Sweden's most important export counties and a leading visitor county. Therefore, the transport needs of both freight and passenger transport need to be met.
Coordination of infrastructure and traffic measures with our neighboring counties is also of great importance in achieving regional enlargement. This means that residents' opportunities to work and study in a larger geographical area are expanded as communications in the area are expanded.
Large-regional cooperation is becoming increasingly important for achieving important joint infrastructure investments in Sweden, including through the Bothnian Corridor and the North Bothnian Line collaboration.
