Infrastructure

A well-developed infrastructure is one of the prerequisites for sustainable development throughout the county. The role of infrastructure is to enable good accessibility for both residents and businesses.

Our advocacy issues

The Norrbotten Region has several impact issues in the infrastructure area, which the Regional Development Committee has decided on. They concern:

  • Increased capacity on the Ore Railway, with the ability to run heavier transports and better reliability for both freight and passenger traffic.
  • Double track on the Boden-Luleå train route. The stretch will be a bottleneck in the green transition. There is already a capacity shortage today and passenger traffic has been limited in order for freight traffic to function. When the port of Luleå is fully developed, the pressure there will increase.
  • Rapid completion of the entire Norrbothnia Line. Region Norrbotten wants to see measures to intensify planning and construction. The region is asking for a target year for completion of the entire track.
  • E10's accessibility and safetyThe green industrial development involves major investments in the Ore Fields and the E10 is an important and only link for road transport.
  • Connection of the Haparanda Line to the Finnish railway network.
  • Ensure function and capacity on the main line.
