Vänregion Troms County Municipality

The Norrbotten region is a twin region and cooperation partner with the neighboring region of Troms County in northern Norway.

The Norrbotten region and Troms county are both part of the European Arctic and therefore have much in common. The regions already cooperate across the border, including in the form of transport by ambulance helicopter. To strengthen cooperation between the regions, representatives from the regions meet regularly and engage in dialogue on common issues and opportunities for cooperation.

The first cooperation agreement between the regions was signed in 2006 and has since been renewed several times. Today, the agreement covers cooperation in a number of different areas, such as culture and cultural heritage, education and research, business, infrastructure and communication, environment and climate, tourism, e-Health and oral health.
