International collaboration
To strengthen development in Norrbotten, Region Norrbotten works internationally, especially within the EU. Sweden's membership in the EU means that we are influenced by decisions made in the EU and that we can work with others to ensure that EU decisions are as favorable as possible for the county.
The international perspective is important for Norrbotten to be competitive in a globalized world. Today we see increased competition between Europe's approximately 300 regions. This places increased demands on Norrbotten to position itself. The background to Region Norrbotten's international commitment is therefore the region's long-term development and competitiveness.
Many of Region Norrbotten's politicians are strong advocates in international forums. To support the work, there is an active staff of civil servants. The common mission is to strengthen Norrbotten's position in international contexts through, among other things, strategic alliances, networking and collaborations at international and interregional level.
