New cultural director appointed in Norrbotten Region

The new cultural director of the Norrbotten Region is Fabian Arnheim. He currently works as museum director for the Army Museum in Stockholm. 

Fabian Arnheim is basically an art historian and has extensive experience as a manager in the cultural sector. Before becoming director of the state-owned Army Museum, he worked for five years as museum director/CEO of Skellefteå Museum.  

 I am very much looking forward to my new role and not least to returning to the north and working broadly with cultural issues that are close to my heart. Norrbotten is a well-known cultural region and if it is not already, the region will become world-famous with the Capital of Culture year. There is a lot of exciting things happening right now in many parts of Norrbotten, says Fabian Arnheim. 

During his professional life, Arnheim has worked strategically in state, regional and municipal government, with responsibility for development, governance and change work. He also has valuable experience as chairman of the Swedish Arts Council's reference group for national minorities. 

 I welcome Fabian Arnheim to Norrbotten and look forward to working with him to take the next step in building an attractive and exciting Norrbotten. His experience makes him well equipped for the role of cultural director, says Johannes Sundelin (S), chairman of the regional development committee in Region Norrbotten. 

Arnheim will take up his position as cultural director in October and will then lead the various cultural activities of the Norrbotten Region. 

 Fabian is perceived as a confident leader with a focus on both the mission and the person, and with the ability to ensure in a structured way that employees and managers are working in the right direction, says Janus Brandin, Regional Development Director in Region Norrbotten.
