“It's about highlighting our reality”
For the second year in a row, Norrbotten has come together this week in a joint initiative at the Business Arena trade fair in Stockholm. Invest in Norrbotten, Region Norrbotten and several of the county's municipalities made a common cause around one of our fateful issues – housing supply.
– It's about highlighting our reality, our potential and the business opportunities that exist when growth occurs in the north, says Mikael Aamisepp, CEO of our company Invest in Norrbotten.
Mikael Aamisepp also participated in the BA Talks seminar series in connection with the fair. During the conversation, he highlighted, among other things, the enormous investments that industry is making in Norrbotten. Investments worth hundreds of billions from companies that believe in development in the north – but where is the commercial property market in all this?
“Many people still know too little about the growth that is happening here. Now we need to invite, show and get more people to understand where the future is being built,” he says.

One of the municipalities that has chosen to participate this year is Piteå. Business Arena offered the municipality an opportunity to meet developers, for example, physically, and discuss and talk about development opportunities.
– We face major challenges up here in the north. We need more people moving up. Then we also need to look at more opportunities to actually build new homes. It is very important that we have good contacts with community developers. There are few places where you have the opportunity to meet so many people at the same time, says Ulf Fjällström, business developer at Piteå Municipality.
Mikael Aamisepp agrees that networking is an important part of being present at Business Arena.
– What we take with us from here are new relationships, new perspectives – and a strengthened responsibility to tell Norrbotten's story.
