UF company received award for social sustainability
Region Norrbotten participated as competition host at this year's UF fair in Luleå Energi Arena. We presented the award to the socially sustainable company of the year and talked to young people about what they want from life in Norrbotten.
- Social sustainability is incredibly important for building a Norrbotten region where people thrive and develop. Region Norrbotten has been able to take advantage of fantastic business ideas from this year's UF companies that contribute to social sustainability, says our employee Erika Falk.
The award for socially sustainable company of the year went to BarngympaKalix. The UF company, run by Tindra Svanberg Kammersten, Elli Gavelin and Viola Morin Petersson, offers tailor-made children's gymnastics for children's parties.
The justification was:
With the individual in focus and as a clear solution to a social challenge, BarngympaKalix UF has developed a sustainable and successful business idea and a way of working that is based on possibilities. With knowledge, flexibility, responsiveness and a fantastic view of humanity, BarngympaKalix UF has, in a self-evident way, created inclusive environments that clearly contribute to physical and mental health. BarngympaKalix UF provides an exemplary opportunity for movement and socialization for everyone and has made a big difference in people's lives in a short time.
Young people's thoughts about Norrbotten
Region Norrbotten is currently collecting the thoughts and opinions of the people of Norrbotten about the future of the county. They are needed for the work of developing a new roadmap to 2040, the regional development strategy. We took the opportunity to ask the young participants at the UF fair what they needed to thrive in Norrbotten today and in the future.
Here are some of the answers:
- A safe and secure society with a vibrant business community

- Access to more leisure activities
- Better communications including more buses
