Karin Hübinette: "Courageous not to shy away from difficult questions"

For the third year in a row, Jokkmokk Arctic Talks is hosted by Karin Hübinette. She is known to the television audience after over twenty years as an SVT journalist, when she was, among other things, the host of Agenda and had her own talk show. Nowadays, she is also known to those who have taken part in our panel discussions and debates about Norrbotten's development in recent years.

The Competence Challenge 810577

What do you think about this year's theme for Jokkmokk Arctic talks - conflicts of interest and difficult choices?
– Very interesting and difficult. In the wake of the green transition, both old and new conflicts are also coming to the surface. On the one hand, one can be convinced by arguments about climate benefits, competitiveness and security policy aspects. On the other hand, people's living conditions are at stake. I think it is brave of the organizers not to shy away from some of the perhaps most complex but at the same time relevant issues of our time.

This is your third time as a moderator for Jokkmokk Arctic Talks, and you have also led the conversations about Norrbotten at Norra Scen in Almedalen in recent years. What have you learned along the way?
– An incredible amount! Both about companies and industrial development, but perhaps most of all about people and the incredible commitment to the region. It is really clear that the green transition is ultimately about people, those who live there today and who are expected to move there tomorrow. Many challenges along the way, undeniably, but very inspiring to follow up close.

Why shouldn't you miss Jokkmokk Arctic Talks?
– I think it's a fantastic opportunity to be able to take part in hot social issues in the midst of the market hustle and bustle, a perfect combination, simply put.
