Investment support turned into riding stables and warehouse space
How have the companies that have received investment support from Region Norrbotten fared? Two of our strategists visited Älvsbyn to see how business support there has been beneficial and contributed to growth in the county.
Part of Region Norrbotten's mission is to make follow-up visits to companies that have received investment support. On November 7, we visited two companies in Älvsbyn.
Granträsk Såg outside Älvsbyn has recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. The company manufactures houses, from design to production and assembly. With its own planing mill, it also offers direct sales of timber products and panels. The company has received support for a new warehouse, an expanded planing mill and the modernization of the planing plant. It is now run by Marie Rönnholm, who has taken over the business from her father Kennet Viklund.

Marie Rönnholm and her father Kennet Viklund, who has now handed over the operation of the 150-year-old company to the next generation.
Nian Hästsport in Korsträsk is of great importance for equestrian sports in northern Sweden. The company has received support for the construction of an insulated riding stable. Courses for instructors and trainers are offered there, among other things. In the future, Nian Hästsport will also add accommodation options.
An important part of the business is saddle testing, which is carried out by the company's trained hippologist/saddle tester Maria Norén. The business also includes an equestrian store with products for both horses and riders. The market for the entire business is Norrland, Mälardalen, but also to some extent Finland and Norway. On site we were welcomed by Susanne and Adam Nilsson. Susanne runs the business together with Maria Norén.

Both visits gave a very good impression and valuable feedback. The investments have contributed to positive development.
In connection with the visits to Älvsbyn, we met with business developer Sofia Lundberg and business advisor Owe Johansson. The purpose was to exchange experiences and information. We were shown around the new premises, Älvsbyns Business Center. It is a new meeting place that will contribute to business development in the municipality.
From the Norrbotten Region, business strategists in business support, Elisabeth Johansson Englund and Anita Johansson, participated.
We enable entrepreneurs to take the next step. Companies can receive support for investments that will help them grow and develop. Do you have an idea? Get in touch - we can make things happen.
