Aurora opens up for exciting cross-border collaborations
Climate-smart food, young entrepreneurship and sustainable construction. The first projects within the EU fund Interreg Aurora are now starting. The program will promote cross-border collaboration in the northern parts of Sweden, Finland and Norway.
The program runs until 2027. The selected projects will receive money from the EU and the Norrbotten Region will contribute approximately ten million kronor to these first ten projects. These are some of the projects:
Luleå University of Technology (LTU) will, together with the Swedish Household Association, strengthen the conditions for climate-smart food production. In this area, there is potential for small and medium-sized companies to grow through cross-border collaboration. The project ClimateFood receives 800 SEK to develop this area.
The region contributes SEK 1,6 million to Young entrepreneurship in Norrbotten and their projects Aurora EntrepreneurialisThe project will work with sustainable entrepreneurship at upper secondary schools in Sweden and Finland. It will connect schools with local businesses and develop cooperation between regions on different sides of the borders.

LTU Business receives almost 1,4 million SEK from Region Norrbotten for the project SCABEACThe project will strengthen the construction industry and provide opportunities for stronger growth through cross-border cooperation. It is also about how universities can contribute knowledge about sustainable construction in the North.
EcoLib will contribute to a solution for recycling used batteries. The project is being co-operated by LTU with the University of Oulu and the battery company Northvolt. The project will receive 1 to find a circular and sustainable solution.
