State funds strengthen Norrbotten's regional cultural activities

Now, Region Norrbotten has distributed the state grant within the cultural collaboration model. This year, Region Norrbotten received an increase in the state grant by SEK 4,3 million and had a total of SEK 54,7 million to distribute to the seven cultural areas and 17 activities that are part of the model in Norrbotten.

All cultural areas are being strengthened according to a decision by the regional development committee on April 26. A special strengthening is being made at the Regional Library's Polar Library, Dans i Nord, Norrbotten Association Archives, Riksteatern Norrbotten and Norrland's Network for Music Theatre and Dance (NMD).

The government funds allocated to Norrbotten are important for the region's development potential in the arts and culture sector. The allocation to cultural activities enables the maintenance of infrastructure despite some continued impact from the corona pandemic.

– We are very happy about the government support that Norrbotten's cultural life will now receive. The funds strengthen the conditions for development, renewal and quality, and increase accessibility to culture for Norrbotten residents and visitors, says Peppe Bergström Hesselbom, Director of Culture.
