Summer theater on tour with the help of a special grant

The summer theatre is a much-appreciated part of Norrbotten Theatre's operations. With the help of a special grant from Region Norrbotten, the theatre will go on tour this summer. Norrbotten Theatre will travel around the county to meet both new and old audiences. – There is no theatre that is as immediate and easy to love as the summer theatre, says theatre director Gunilla Röör.

The Regional Development Committee wants to make it possible for more people in Norrbotten to take part in the Norrbotten Theatre's offerings. Therefore, the committee is now allocating SEK 580 in grants for an investment in the family performance. Loranga, Masarin and Dartanjang.

- There is no theatre that is as immediate and easy to love as summer theatre. That we now receive an addition to be able to carry it out next summer – nothing could please us more, says theatre director Gunilla Röör.

The tour will be a fresh start after the pandemic. Norrbottensteatern's mission is to offer professional theater performances of high quality to all citizens. Children and young people are a prioritized target group. Norrbottensteatern now has a mobile stage. It makes it possible to take the theater to places in the county that otherwise could not have received guest performances.

Children get to experience the theater

Access to culture is an important part of an attractive county where many people want to live and reside. With this performance, children and young people will have the opportunity to encounter the performing arts in the summer of 2023.

- It will be family theater at the highest level when we play "Loranga, Masarin and Dartanjang"! This lovely tale about the family who lives in chaos. Who plays their way through life, no matter how serious it may be.

However, touring a county the size of Norrbotten is expensive. Before 2023, Norrbottensteatern applied for a grant to be able to carry out a tour with the performance. Norrbotten Region and Luleå Municipality will share the additional cost of one million kronor.

- Right now in dark November, it's strangely nice to think about how we're going to populate next year's summer theater caravan, says Gunilla Röör.
