New initiative for companies looking to export and recruit talent
The Norrbotten Chamber of Commerce and Region Norrbotten will collaborate in the LUX project to support companies that want to grow through internationalization. The project is about finding new ways forward for export promotion and skills supply. The work will continue throughout 2022 and is funded by Vinnova.
The project consists of two parts, export promotion and attractiveness in the light (LUX) of the green transition. The aim is to further explore what Norrbotten companies need to successfully take the step into the world and how Norrbotten can attract more people to move to the county.
The initiative is based on a government mandate with the aim of developing working methods and processes for increased synergies between regional, national and international innovation efforts. The goal is to increase the internationalization of Norrbotten companies by testing new working methods and working on issues such as attractiveness and smart, sustainable societies.
The project is assisted by the government actors within Triple I - Vinnova, Business Sweden, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish Institute. A collaboration that can create a leverage effect for Norrbotten companies and for the county.
– We want to reach innovative companies that have the will, energy and strength to take on new markets in new ways. Here there is an opportunity to receive tailored support to grow internationally, says Linda Nilsson, CEO of the Norrbotten Chamber of Commerce.
The supply of skills is a prerequisite for conducting internationally competitive business, and access to the right skills is a common challenge for companies in the county. The large industrial establishments that are underway in Norrbotten and Västerbotten will increase the need for skills even further. If Norrbotten is to succeed in the green transition, it will require the movement of skills from outside. Construction and planning are underway in Boden, Gällivare and Skellefteå to accommodate all the people that will be needed in the towns in the future.
– A new way of working is needed to achieve the supply of skills and here the county and Sweden need to take new steps together, says Janus Brandin, Regional Development Director, Norrbotten Region.
