The world of fables

The exhibition The World of Fables is currently running at Regionhuset. In the exhibition, the audience will meet three artists who take their starting point from their great interest in raising the issue of climate, animals and nature and man's attitude towards them.

A recurring theme in the works of the three artists, Marie Karlsson, Johanna Borgenstål and Katarina Röding is that animals are at the center and tell stories about abuse of power and climate threats. What may at first look innocent and cute, Woolly Justice Animals as Katarina Röding writes, has a deeper meaning.

A fable should be based on a moral that makes us think, an example is the famous quote "he who gapes for a lot often misses the whole piece". A way to raise questions about what is right and wrong. A storytelling technique that is sometimes used in countries with strict censorship where artists and writers have to wrap their messages. However, that is not the case here, in these works the animals rather become mediators of burning current issues that we viewers would like to defend ourselves against. Then a "cute animal" can help open up our hearts.

The three artists use different styles and expressions in their images, from Katarina Röding's naïve style to Johanna Borgenstål's illustrative images and Marie Karlsson's collages. What brings them together is that they are all passionate about raising the issue of climate, animals and nature and man's relationship to them.
