We are pleased to receive the news that the government has approved the proposal for the Interreg program Aurora for the period 2021-2027 and that the government has now submitted the proposal to the EU.
Work has been ongoing since autumn 2020 to develop a proposal for a cooperation program. The Government has now approved the proposal and it is time for the next step to complete the program by sending the proposal to the EU.
Interreg Aurora – A new programme
Interreg Aurora is a new programme that will replace Interreg Botnia-Atlantica and Interreg Nord, which includes the Sápmi sub-region, in the upcoming programming period 2021-2027. The aim of the programme is to develop cross-border cooperation in the northernmost parts of Sweden, Norway and Finland. The programme enables new and exciting collaborations.
The programme period runs over seven years, 2021-2027. The EU is funding the programme with €93,4 million. The money will be used to develop innovation, entrepreneurship and climate transitions.
The Norrbotten Region, the Federation of Lapland and the County Council of Troms and Finnmark coordinate the writing of the programme and the selection of priorities. The County Administrative Board of Norrbotten is appointed as the managing authority.
