This year's environmental award goes to Natursnokarna

Today, the Environmental Award of the Year was presented for the 25th year in a row. The award was given to the Nature Snakes in Luleå.

In Natursnokarna, a child and an accompanying adult, who does not have to be the parent, can discover nature. This can involve looking at insects, finding a frog or grilling breadsticks over an open fire. The activity has been in existence for seven years in Luleå and is aimed at children aged 3-10 years, at a national level Natursnokarna has been in existence for 30 years. The discovery, or snooping, often takes place in the local environment.

No expensive or complicated equipment is required, you can just snoop around as you are. By reusing materials from, for example, the kitchen for snooping, the children gain an understanding of sustainability and climate-smart thinking.

– We want to give children a sense of discovery and want all children to feel at home in nature. It should feel enjoyable to be there, which is why we both play and learn at Natursnokarna. If the children have fun in the forest, they may care for nature when they grow up, says Dieke Sörlin.

Justification for the award

Because they help children and adults get out into nature and discover together in a social and fun way.

About the Norrbotten Environmental Prize

To stimulate and highlight good environmental efforts in Norrbotten, Region Norrbotten and Almi have a joint environmental award. The award, which is worth a total of SEK 50, can be given to a company or organization that actively and forward-looking conducts an operation where environmental and sustainability work is a central part of the success achieved.

Norrbotten Business Award

This year, the joint business prize from Almi Företagspartner Nord and Region Norrbotten was awarded to Svantes Vilt & Bär AB. The purpose of the joint prize of SEK 50 is to highlight successful entrepreneurs and thereby stimulate business development in the county.

Justification for the award

The winner of the Norrbotten Business Award has been on a growth journey since its inception in 2002. The journey from a small company with two employees and a small turnover to today's 15 employees has been made organically, with healthy finances and impressive growth in terms of both economy and jobs. The recipe for success is partly explained by the cornerstones on which the company was founded: organic, natural raw materials, climate-smart and short transport distances. Today's trend words for sustainable business! After a successful generational change in the company, the current owner has taken the next step on the growth journey.

The company is seen as a key player in the Harads community - an ambassador for local food culture and the originator of several beneficial, local collaborations. As a driver for Harads' development and survival, it supplies, among other things, locally produced game meat to schools, nursing homes and home care in Harads. This is just one example of our award winner choosing to "dig where you stand" and contribute to the development of the town, rather than expanding to other locations. Through innovative thinking and creative approaches to product and service development, the company skillfully maneuvered through the pandemic. With an employer brand that is characterized by diversity, equality and diversified ownership, it is also winning through today's major challenge for the business community - skills supply.

The team behind Svantes Vilt & Bär AB are stimulating role models who demonstrate sustainable and professional entrepreneurship, good ethics and successful development of local entrepreneurship - that is why they receive the joint Business Award 2021 from Almi Företagspartner Nord and Region Norrbotten. Our warmest congratulations to Andreas Renberg, Ulrika Hagström, Olov Renberg, Liselotte Renberg and Juan Handal!
