Norrbotten could become Export Region of the Year

As part of the effort to increase exports from across the country, the government is awarding the Export Region of the Year award. Norrbotten Region is one of three regions nominated.

– We are very pleased that the Government has nominated Norrbotten as Export Region of the Year. Norrbotten generates a major contribution to the development of all of Sweden thanks to our strong basic industry in minerals, steel and forestry, as well as through a growing tourism industry, says Janus Brandin, Regional Development Director in Region Norrbotten.

The government wants to use the award to promote Swedish exports and recognize regions that have successfully collaborated between regional actors and created better conditions for companies to succeed in their export efforts, thereby contributing to growth and job creation. 

– We are proud that our industries are leading the green transition globally and that the world's eyes are now focused on what is happening here in northern Sweden.

The prize will be awarded on Friday, October 22 by Minister of Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg in the presence of HRH Prince Daniel.

Nominated regions for Export Region of the Year are:

• Norrbotten
• Halland
• Skåne
