Rubus arcticus

Banner Rubus Arcticus

Rubus Arcticus is one of Sweden's largest cultural scholarships. It is for those of you who are in the midst of your artistic endeavor and who want to develop further with the help of the scholarship. The scholarship, totaling 400 kronor, is distributed annually among four scholarship holders with activities and/or connections to Norrbotten. Applications for Rubus Arcticus are open between May 000 and September 15 each year.

The purpose of Rubus Arcticus is to reward professional cultural creators with Norrbotten connections in dance, visual and formal arts, film, photography, literature, music, theater and other artistic expressions.

Who can receive the scholarship?

The Rubus Arcticus scholarship is intended for the artistic development of professional cultural creators with connections to Norrbotten and can, for example, cover costs for further training, study trips, internships or constitute compensation for previous, already completed efforts. The scholarship cannot constitute co-financing for projects/project applications.

The scholarship must be applied for personally and is awarded to a maximum of four scholarship recipients each year. The scholarship amount is SEK 100 for each scholarship and scholarship recipients cannot receive it more than once. The scholarship cannot be awarded for work performed in the service within Region Norrbotten. The purpose must be stated in the application.

Applications are assessed by a jury from the county's cultural life, appointed on the basis of a proposal from Region Norrbotten. The decision on the scholarship is made by the chairman of the regional board in consultation with the jury. The scholarship is awarded by the presidium of the Regional Council at one of the Regional Council meetings in the autumn.

The scholarship does not require any compensation.

Application

The application is open May 15–September 1, 2026.
