Cultural Scholarship Barents Cooperation

Together with the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC), the Joint Working Group on Culture (JWGC) is announcing a scholarship of €10 for collaborations in the cultural sector in the Barents Region; the Barents Scholarship for Cultural Cooperation.

Norrbotten County is one of 13 regions in the Barents Region, which spans Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia. The region has a formalized network on cultural issues; the Joint Working Group on Culture (JWGC). The network's purpose is to strengthen cultural identities, dialogue and cultural ties between the countries and regions.

Together with the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC), JWGC is announcing a scholarship for collaborations in the cultural sector in the Barents region, Barents Scholarship for Cultural CooperationThe scholarship is worth €10 and will be awarded every two years starting in 000.

This year, three fellows will be selected, from Finland, Norway and Sweden. For Sweden, this means that there will be either a fellow from Norrbotten or Västerbotten.

The scholarship aims to recognize and encourage artistic quality and cross-border cooperation in the Barents Region. It can be awarded to individuals or to groups, associations or other groups of active cultural practitioners.

The recipient of the scholarship must be active in the Barents region and demonstrate:

• Experience of previous cultural cooperation with one or more regions in the Barents region.
• Ambition and willingness for further cultural cooperation with one or more regions in the Barents region.
• High artistic quality in previous work.

Application

The application period for the 2025 scholarship is open until April 23.
