Opening of the exhibition MANNAME at the Crafts and Design Center in Luleå

Welcome to the opening of the exhibition MANNAME created by the craft collective GEA at the new Craft and Design Center in Luleå. Come and meet the crafters and hear them tell about the path to their creation!

MANNAME is an exhibition of traditional and innovative duodji by the 2023 graduating students from the Sami Education Centre, Jokkmokk. MANNAME is a North Sami word that can be compared to the English word "going". Life consists of many journeys and processes. We are always on the road, in constant development, towards dreams and goals. Through our duodji in the exhibition we show where we come from and our path forward.

The Craft and Design Center is a three-year project that runs from 2023 to 2025. The center will work to strengthen and make the craft and design area in Norrbotten visible. The goal is to establish a long-term and inclusive meeting place that is aimed at a broad target group. The Craft and Design Center collaborates with actors in crafts, arts and crafts, design, design, architecture, sustainable construction and designed living environments.

The project owner is the cultural unit, Region Norrbotten. The project is financed by Region Norrbotten and Luleå Municipality.
