Norrbotten in the world in uncertain times

A warm welcome to a conference where we raise our sights and see Norrbotten as part of a larger context. Our county is undergoing a major societal transformation, while the world we are a part of is characterized by uncertainty. We are challenged by a long series of circumstances that are beyond our control. How should we relate to them?

11100 A Regional Development Conference 1200X800

The Develop Norrbotten conference is a meeting place for those of you who are in some way involved in developing the county of the future. We will jointly discuss how we can best create a long-term viable Norrbotten.

It will be a lunch-to-lunch conference that promises new knowledge, inspiration and conversations about the future of the county. We will present parallel seminars on both days where we will delve into current regional development issues, such as what young people dream about in the countryside, speeding up housing construction, sustainable food supply and the production of the Christmas calendar Snödrömmar.

The conference will feature several interesting speakers who offer in-depth knowledge and more perspectives. On stage, we invite local and regional key figures to participate in panel discussions with our speakers.

Knutson is a strong voice in the discussion about democracy. “The digital revolution has both revitalized and shaken democracy. Speed means everything, thought is becoming less and less. The children of freedom of expression are hate speech, threats and lies, where some statements certainly fall within the law, but just as much hurt and make people afraid – and in the long run can be dangerous and lead to violence.” (SKMA newsletter, June 2023)

Fredrik Segerfeldt, author and debater
Fredrik believes that the entire industrial initiative is ill-conceived, as it will make us less free, less rich and less green. This is especially true because it is politically created. He believes that servitization (or deindustrialization if you like) has made us freer, richer and greener, and that contemporary industrial investment risks halting this development.
