Conversation about designed living environment as a force for sustainable development in northern Sweden

The focus during the meeting will be on the need for a national node in northern Sweden that will work with people at the center during a historical transition. A node that will focus on architecture, form, design and crafts and how these elements should be implemented in the societal transformation that is taking place to create an attractive region.

In 2021, Region Västerbotten has worked on this issue by, among other things, arranging open digital seminars on the topic of the Policy for Designed Living Environment and arranging workshops for invited guests who in some way work and are affected by the policy area.

During the meeting, we will, among other things, listen to an introduction by Richard Carstedt (S), chairman of the regional development committee, who will talk about the transition in northern Sweden and the importance of a national node in the region.

Sara Thor, architect/deputy head of department and teacher at the Umeå University School of Architecture, will lecture on the role of the architect and design in that work and we will also listen to a conversation between Dorte Bo Bojesen, CEO, Form Design Center in Malmö and Tobias Olsson, director of the Swedish Association of Architects.

In collaboration between Region Västerbotten, Region Norrbotten and the European Regional Fund.
