The social benefit of the green transition
The green transition and new industrialization in Norrbotten and northern Sweden is happening now. It must happen now. There are far too many risks in stopping or delaying the processes that have been set in motion. The country's competitive advantages are at stake.
If these major projects go ahead as planned, they will mean enormous climate benefits and socio-economic gains not only for Norrbotten but also for Sweden. It is the beginning of the next century of Swedish export success. However, further investments will be required — but the tax revenues and contributions to the economy cannot be emphasized enough and will be obvious in the future, both in the short and long term.
Region Norrbottens has commissioned McKinsey & Co. to conduct an impact analysis to paint a picture of what it could look like as early as 2030. A report that shows the societal benefits in clear figures and examples — economy, climate and demographics.
We will take part in the report and subsequent conversations with politicians and business representatives.
