The environmental permit process – a quality guarantor or a brake on industrial development?

At Norra Scen we discuss what is needed for the transition to be successful, including opportunities and challenges, green industrial initiatives and social development in northern Sweden, and the interaction between industry, academia and society.

Almedalen 2

Norrbotten is changing with sustainability in focus and with the need for efficient processes for permits and review. But how efficient can it be made, who should do what and for whom? Together with national industry organizations, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, industries and authorities, Norra Scen welcomes you to breakfast for in-depth knowledge about one of Sweden's most debated development issues - the environmental permit process.

Janus Brandin, Regional Development Director, Norrbotten Region, begins by speaking under the heading National conditions and regional development go hand in hand.

Moderator Carl Wangel, SSAB, then continues with a panel discussion with:

  • Eva Sundin, Head of Department Environment, Norrbotten County Administrative Board
  • Niklas Skår, lawyer, Confederation of Swedish Enterprise
  • Karin Bark, environmental project manager, SSAB
  • Marie Kimming, Head of Project Development for Onshore Wind Power in Sweden, Vattenfall
  • Pia Lindström, Environment and Sustainability Director, LKAB
  • Oscar Alarik, Chief Legal Officer, Swedish Society for Nature Conservation

The seminar series Norra Scen – Arena for green transition is a collaboration between IVA Nord, LKAB, Luleå University of Technology, Region Norrbotten SSAB and Vattenfall.
