Kulturting Norr - Culture in a changing world

We welcome you to an inspiring digital conference filled with cultural elements, lectures and panel discussions. with a focus on the role and future of culture. During the day, politicians, cultural practitioners and experts will gather to discuss the role of culture in social development, the financing of the cultural sector, Sami culture as an important part of our cultural heritage and how we can strengthen collaboration to meet today's challenges.

Camilla Olofsson Båatas, administrator for Sami issues at Mid Sweden University, presents Gaske University in Östersund. Gaske University's intention is to develop research and education for Sami issues and thus also strengthen the role of a university in the middle of Saepmie.

Liv Aira presents Jillat - Sami dance center which will be inaugurated on November 16 in Vuollerim, Jokkmokk municipality.

Marie Wallsten from Luleå Municipality presents the preliminary study The role of culture for the future of Luleå. Thousands of new Luleå residents are needed to cope with the social transition. But to get people to move to Luleå and want to stay, more is needed than job opportunities and housing. Culture is the piece of the puzzle that is needed for the transition to be successful, this preliminary study concludes.

Pelle Amberntsson from the Kulturanalys agency presents the report Private cultural financing - Obstacles, opportunities and consequences. The report maps and analyzes the financing of the cultural sector, with particular focus on how non-public actors contribute to the financing of cultural activities.
