Can we have 100 more in northern Sweden?
Northern Sweden faces major challenges as the societal transformation is estimated to generate 100 new residents as a result of the extensive investments in fossil-free industry.

Thousands of jobs can be created in the new industry, but for a sustainable society, other sectors also need large workforce additions. Not least, schools, healthcare and social care face major challenges as Norrbotten grows.
Welcome to a breakfast seminar where moderator Helena Karlberg leads a conversation with Rikard Eriksson and Jonas Thörnqvist about the current situation and the future. Will we have 100 more people in northern Sweden?
Breakfast is served from 7.30.
Rikard Eriksson is a professor of economic geography at Umeå University and researches labor markets, migration patterns, and regional development. He was recently awarded 43 million in funding to research the industrial transformation in northern Sweden.
Jonas Thörnqvist is a project manager at Region Norrbotten and works, among other things, with health and medical care planning linked to the green transition.
